The 10th Annual Hot Springs International Women’s Film Festival is returning to downtown Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, on June 28-29, and film enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the outstanding contributions of women in film from around the world.
The Hot Springs Arts and Film Institute (HSAFI), which hosts the HSIWFF, is a
cornerstone of the city’s vibrant arts community. HSAFI provides multiple film
festivals year-round with screenings, workshops, and educational programs,
nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.
The HSIWFF is more than just a film festival; it is a catalyst for change, empowering women and inspiring the public to
appreciate the diversity and richness of women’s contributions to the art of filmmaking.Its impact extends beyond the
festival weekend, fostering dialogue and promoting gender equality in the entertainment industry.
This year’s festival promises a dynamic and diverse selection of films, offering attendees a rare chance to view movies ahead of their official release. The exciting lineup includes premiers, unreleased features, captivating international documentaries, compelling narratives, side-splitting comedies, innovative shorts and animations. Additionally, a special spotlight will be on local talent flourishing in Arkansas.
Highlighted performances include Christina Eliopoulos’ drama “Here’s Yainni”, featuring notable actors such as Julia Ormond, Rosanna Arquette, Kevin Pollak, Eric Roberts, Sofia Vassilieva and Joe Cortese. Other much-anticipated films include “GINA” by Austrian Director Ulrike Kofler and “Love Daniel” starring Michael Roark, Barry Bostwick and Jamie King. The festival also showcases documentaries from Warner Bros Discovery and executive producer Jane Fonda’s “NORITA” alongside unique short films, student projects, animations and works made in Arkansas.
Attendees can also explore “The Artist Vendors Area” offering handmade items, delectable food and drinks. On Sunday, guests can enjoy mimosas as they attend The Film Awards Ceremony.
About Bill Volland.
Bill Volland is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning film producer.
Growing up in Southern California, he spent his high school summers
surfing and learning foreign languages. He attended the Monterey Institute
of International Studies (MIIS), University of California San Diego
(UCSD), and CILCAL in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Starting his career as a production assistant and grip for a local video
company, Bill began designing backgrounds, creating props, and applying
special effects for internationally renowned still photographers. After
college, he served as a U.S. Navy videographer for several years before
transitioning into movies and television, where he worked as an Art
Director and Set Decorator on CBS’s “Silk Stalkings.” His versatility in the
industry led him to roles as a Production Designer and ultimately as a
Producer. A few years ago, Bill relocated to Hot Springs, where he
purchased an independent theater. He also founded two international film
festivals, playing a key role in their development for over a decade.
His diverse portfolio includes feature films such as “Top Dog” starring
Chuck Norris and “Country Justice” with George C. Scott. He has also
contributed to Movies-of-the-Week, television series for CBS, USA, and
FOX, including Stephen Cannal’s “Silk Stalkings” and PBS’s award winning
series, “American Frontier” with Merlin Olsen and Charlie Jones. In addition,
Bill has worked on numerous national commercials for clients like the U.S. Navy, Hilton Hotels, GMC, Ford, Chevy,
Toyota, Coke, Kodak, Budweiser, and many others.
His work also spans sport events like the NFL Super Bowl XXII,
Holiday Bowl, National Baseball League, and X Games, as well as projects with Surfer Magazine TV and Tony Hawk
Skateboards. He is the owner and operator of Leviathan, a specialized 32-foot two-person camera crane built by Universal
Studios, used for capturing dynamic shots in challenging environments.
